LIVE WATCH! Commonwealth v. Karen Read DAY 26
We finished the day on Friday with the voir dire of Trooper Paul's new opinion that Karen Read's taillight could not have been broken by hitting John's car in the driveway at 5 a.m. on the 29th because, well, he says so. Alan Jackson was fuming because this opinion was developed weeks ago and never disclosed to the defense, so he wants it excluded. Why Judge Bev needs to think about this I don't know, but she did and so we are expecting the ruling first thing in the morning before we finish Trooper Paul's direct exam and continue to a cross that is sure to be spicy now that Mr. Jackson is good and pissed off. What's left in the Commonwealth's case? We are assured that despite 20+ witnesses remaining on the list, the jury will have the case before the 4th of July holiday, and the key witnesses remaining for the Commonwealth would seem to be the medical examiner and Trooper Nicholas Guarino, who performed all of the cell phone extractions in the case.
